Gate Automation Intercoms We Install:

Our systems can be fitted with four different types of intercom to increase security and add to the convenience of your life. To help you decide we have listed the products we install & details of how they function. If you have any special requirements please let us know, and we can find a solution for you.
 

If you desire an intercom with a hardwired connection we have listed the cable you need in the requirements. If you can install the cable between the gate & house it will reduce the cost considerably. Please keep in mind the cable distance!

 

What do intercom do we typically install?
In most situations we would fit an audio GSM intercom, either the 4G Telguard Optimus system or 2G Videx 4000 system. Both systems use the mobile network for reliable communication. Details below. 
 

Advice on Video IP intercoms:
With the ongoing progress in technology we are seeing many headless (no internal monitor) internet connected intercoms released onto the market. After experimenting with a few IP intercoms over the years we have concerns about longevity & security. In the past when we installed an intercom system for a gate I would expect it to function for at least 10+ years without issue. 

Please be aware internet connected devices are typically only supported for 3-4 years after which security, server & App updates can cease & so does tech support. In addition to this longevity concern, should there be any change in your home network or the internet drops out / becomes congested with traffic (multiple people streaming TV) the intercom will not work. Intercoms situated at the end of a drive on a gate need to be 100% reliable. 
For these reasons I am hesitant to recommend any intercom system that cannot be used as a standard intercom should internet connectivity be severed.

 

My current recommendation if you require an internet connected video intercom would be always to fit a unit that has a hard wired internal monitor such as the CDVI 4796KP system where the internet / network connectivity is merely an added bonus, & not required for the intercom to work in a standard way when you are at home.

Audio Only: Wireless Telguard Optimus GSM Intercom (4G)

  • Calls your landline & mobile phone when a visitor presses the call button. (Upto four numbers can be called sequentially).
     

  • Maximum of three call buttons. (For more see the videx unit below).
     

  • When someone calls you via the intercom just press # on your phone handset to open the gate. (Works on any phone).
     

  • Diverts up to three phone numbers if the first is not available. (Sequential). 
     

  • Uses 4G/3G/2G mobile phone network for communication.
     

  • You can text / call the intercoms mobile number to remotely open the gate if you are on the frendly list and change authorised phone numbers via text.
     

  • Remotely latch the gate open by texting "latch" to the unit. Close by texting "close" it will reply with a confirmation text.
     

  • Built in trade button with timer, trade button will allow access during set hours / days. Programmable via app / text.
     

  • Three year guarantee.
     

  • This system can be added to new or existing gates.
     

  • No app required to use the unit. However Telguard have released an app to help reprogram the unit with new phone numbers & use other features. See GSM One on IOS or android. (App helps you send the program text messages).
     

  • Second app "Commtel Comand One" can be used to control gate. (Must be setup properly to work). 
     

  • Integrated keypad, programmable via text / app (Use codes to open gate & latch gate)
     

  • Vandal resistant aluminium body with matt stainless steel front panel.
     

Requirements:

  • Mobile phone signal is required!
     

  • System requires a mobile sim to operate.
    System comes with an O2 sim that can be set on a 30 day rolling contract of £3 a month & 6p a call & 7p a text.

     

  • If you desire we can fit any mobile sim you can provide us. Three Mobile pay as you go is currently the most cost effective operator. (3p a min 2p a text). While EE & vodafone have the most reliable signal.
     

  • We will help you setup an account with the mobile operator to manage the sim card within the intercom during the installation.
     

Audio Only: Wireless Videx 4000 GSM Intercom (2G)

  • Calls your landline & mobile phone when a visitor presses the call button. (Upto four numbers can be called sequentially).
     

  • When someone calls you via the intercom just press 3 on your phone handset to open the gate. (Works on any phone).
     

  • Up to 50 call buttons can be added to the system, for multiple occupancy properties. Each apartment has a button & illuminated name plate. (additional button modules are added).
     

  • Uses 2G mobile phone network for communication.
     

  • You can text / call the intercom to remotely open the gate and change authorised phone numbers. 
     

  • Very reliable & rarely go wrong. We have installed units that are still working >10 years later.
     

  • This system can be added to new or existing gates.
     

  • No app required to use the unit. However Videx have released an app to help reprogram the unit with new phone numbers & use other features. See Videx SMS Wizard on IOS or android. (App helps you send the program text messages).
     

  • Optional integrated keypad (Use codes to open gate)
     

  • Optional Vandal Resistant Version in matt grey is available. (More discrete & no backlight)
     

Requirements:

  • Mobile phone signal is required!
     

  • System requires a Vodafone or O2 mobile sim to operate. We typically recommend setting up a contract as Vodafone & O2 have expensive pay as you go rates. (30p a minute / text).
     

  • We will help you setup an account with the mobile operator to manage the sim card within the intercom.

Audio Only: Hard Wired Videx 4000 Intercom

  • Visitors can call you from the gate, when you are in the house.
     

  • Multiple wired phones can be fitted in the house. (Phone cable required).
     

  • Control options: open & lock open are available on the handset. (Including status of gate via led light)
     

  • This system can be added to new or existing gates provided there is a 4 core cable to the house.
     

  • Optional integrated Keypad (Use codes to open gate).
     

Requirements:

  • Cable: CW1128 5 Pair Telephone Cable.

  • Max distance from external unit to intercom is 300m +
     

  • Other cables can be used, 4 core minimum.
    (System is not too fussy as it is analogue & uses 12v AC to deliver power to the handset).
     

  • If you have a duct please ensure a wire / string pull through is provided. If there is no pull though I can try to vacuum one through, but if there are any sharp bends or joins in the duct it may not work.

Video: Hard Wired CDVI Video System with Touch Screen & Keypad. (CDV4796)

  • Stylish Video intercom with Monitor & Keypad.
     

  • See who is at the gate & the status of the gate via the Monitor inside the house.
     

  • Custom control settings are available.
     

  • Monitor unit is available in black or white, 7 inch colour touch screen.
     

  • Now has Wifi connectivity & an App for your phone, so you can answer the intercom remotely.
    This Feature is not 100% reliable, sometimes the phone will not receive the call when you are away. If you need 100% reliability on calls when away see the Videx 4000 GSM intercom which is audio only & does not require an app or any internet connectivity.

     

Requirements:

  • Cable: Belden 8719 1x twisted pair 1.34mm² Shielded.

    Max distance from external unit to intercom is 120m.
     

  • Cable needs to be laid between the gate & the house, to the monitor location. (Monitor is powered from the unit on the gate Via the Belden 8719 cable).
     

  • Cat 5E / 6 cable can be used but only <40m. 
     

  • App requires Minimum of 4Mbs upload to function reliably. Your mobile will need 4G signal.

Video: Hard Wired AES StylusCom Intercom

  • When the call button is pressed the internal unit rings, & displays the caller on the screen.
     

  • Each time the call button is pressed a 60 second recording is made, which can be accessed from the internal unit should you miss the call. Video data is saved on an SD card.
     

  • System supports motion tracking from one of the CCTV cameras. Recordings are stored on SD card.
     

  • Optional external dome camera that can be used to view gate from a different perspective, instead of the internal camera in unit. 
     

  • Live video feed can be displayed on a TV screen.
     

  • Optional Integrated Keypad.
     

  • Internal display monitor is 4.3 inch Color LCD.
     

  • Does not use the internet.

Requirements:

  • Cable: CAT 5E or CAT 6 cable. We recommend a shielded cable for distances over 50m.

  • Max Cable Distance is 300m
     

  • Power is required for the display unit inside the house.
    (15v DC transformer is supplied with the system).
